SERENITYBOY

hello all. I'm fairly new to this site, but god do i love firefly! hehe. it again showcases the genious that is Joss Whedon. But anyway, my question to any one who may be able to answer it is about the upcoming movie.

since I am an aspiring actor (still in school) and am an avid Joss fan (i am a "freak" of all his shows) I was wondering if any one knows how the casting for movies generally works. I know I should be learning this in school but they havent even touched on this yet, and i know that "Serenity" doesnt shoot till the summer. I was wondering if there were any numbers or e mail addresses I could contact to try and get in the movie. Either as a small guest star, or even an extra. I just wanna be a part of, what will certainly be, one of the best movies ever made. Great mythology, great story, and fantastic man behind the scenes, and fantastic cast.

any help that anyone could give me would be greatly apriciated! thanx a lot!

EMBERS

Mutant Enemy will be casting the movie now (they start shooting, supposedly, in early June)...
it is possible they will hire a 'casting director' but I'm guessing they've been happy with their own ability to cast the correct person for the correct role.

Normally on a movie you must already be a member of the Actors' Union to get a role, but there are 'extras' and I'm sure that that will be true on 'Serenity'...

So go to LA in late May/early June... call the Mutant Enemy offices, see if you can find out where they are shooting (out on location or in studio). Hang around and see if you can be in the right place at the right time when they are looking for extras for a crowd scene.

You never know! Good luck!

Not sure exactly. My understanding is it involves a producer or casting director, a couch, and a lot of "flexibility" on the part of the aspiring actor or actress.

Talent and experiance mean very little.
