Question on similarities: Firefly (2002) & Starcraft (1998) sequences

Got a question...

If you've played Starcraft (for the young'uns, it
was a computer game in the late 90's), then you
know the opening FMV sequence, where a salvage
crew is on EVA, about to (illegally) strip a
derelict spacecraft for junk... then they get
spotted and targetted by a huge ship

Somewhat similar to the EVA from the Serenity
in the pilot (right after the flashback to
the Battle of Serenity Valley).

Many of Starcraft's human characters had
Southe'n accents (fair amount of yee-hawws),
and quite a bit of the (human) FMV segments
used music that would fit into the Firefly
atmosphere. Heck, Adam Baldwin's voice sounds
like a ringer for some of the soldiers in
StarCraft, hehe.

Has Joss ever commented on drawing anything
from that opening vid of StarCraft?
