So, Anyway, I Finally Met Joss

After the weeks of back and forth about whether or not I was going to Comic-Con at all, I left work late Friday afternoon to head to the airport. On the way, I learned that my flight had been delayed two hours and I would not be hitting San Diego until around 1:30 or 2:00 AM, instead of just before midnight.

Then, just before finally boarding my flight and leaving Portland, I switched my arrangements for where I'd be sleeping once I got there.

When I got to San Diego, I hopped a cab to the Omni hotel and found the people whose floor I'd be sleeping on outside the hotel.

They were standing there at the door to the hotel with people from Dark Horse.

And Joss.

This is all at like 2:00 AM.

I went up and said, "I wanted to introduce myself. I'm The One True b!X."

Joss did something of double-take motion. And then said, "I beat up a couple of false b!Xes earlier."

"Awesome," I said. "That's what I like to hear."

He then added something like, "See, I can be manly. ... Weirdly manly."

Then an exchange of "Nice to meet you" and "You, too" and that was it.

In essence, if not for Alaska Airlines delaying my flight for two hours and me switching my sleeping arrangements at the last minute (and, of course, my mother getting a bug in her head and insisting that I would be going), it would not have happened at all.
