I can't wait to hear about tonights screenings!

We're showing tomorrow night.

By Monday, that total donation board should start to look sweet.

We just got back from the Vancouver screening of Serenity. It's the first time I've seen it on the big screen, although I've seen it a dozen times on DVD.

WOW! It is SO much better on a real movie screen. Not quite night and day, maybe twilight and early afternoon, but definitely better. I know I will attend every year because it's just fabulous (and the charity is a good one too)

We were also very luck to have Jewel come and draw door prizes and introduce the movie. Can't get much shinier than that.

I just got home from the second Arlington Virginia Serenity Screening. It was great. First we watched Done the Impossible, then watched Serenity.

That's it. I'm tired. Off to bed.

I was at the Vancouver sceening and what a great event it was! Jewel and her husband Matt were very gracious and generous with the time they spent with fans. Jewel gave a nice intro, explaining that this was primarily a movie about a mechanic and her love life, along with some other incidental stuff about a crazy young girl on a spaceship. She also drew door prizes, with hugs and photo ops for the lucky winners.

She and Matt then stayed for the movie (sitting just behind me). In appreciation, the crowd saved the biggest laugh and cheer of the night for Kaylee's "to hell with this, I'm gonna live" line. Then after the film, Jewel and Matt hung outside the theater signing autographs, posing for photos and chatting with fans for at least forty minutes, until most people had left. They then headed off to attend a friend's birthday party. Man, I love our BDHs.

A post-viewing dinner followed at a nearby eatery with about 40 browncoats in attendance.

Congratulations to Gayle (Samatwitch) and the rest of the key organisers for doing such a fantastic job!

Boston too had a sell out screening

2 lucky fans won REAVER costumes

lots of folks showed up in some mighty fine home made costumes

our pre Chinese dinner was well attended with a "as chocklaty as I could make it" cake to celebrate birthdays

Also, I can kill you with my brain.

I attended the St. Louis Serenity showing last night and it was very shiny indeed! I came on board late and missed the BDH when it came out AND was my first Browncoat gathering. Seeing Serenity on the big screen was a delight, so many little thing (facial expressions and the like) that I didn't catch on DVD. Thanks to Kristen and her crew for pulling it together.

NEW ENGLAND BROWNCOATS REPORT

Boston was sold out, too. We raised near $3,000 for Equality Now, plus almost 300 lbs of genuine A-grade foodstuffs for the Greater Boston Food Bank. All in all, a damned fine showing!

All I gotta say, people, is that Browncoats have a fast growing reputation for being a fine bunch of charitable, hospitable folk out to make the 'verse a shinier place for those less fortunate than ourselves. Ain't always easy to jump up and throw a star in the sky that can shine down on somebody somewhere, but we've done it before, we did it last night and damned to the hot place, we're gonna do it again! We fought for no fewer than three good causes, and we're gonna see to it that Browncoats are forever remembered as the finest bunch of reubens anywhere in the 'verse. Only one thing's gotta happen:

KEEP FLYING!!!

To misbehave
Browncoats shout and
Cheer and rave

Our screening in Charlotte, NC last night managed to raise approx. $2,600 for Equality Now. As well as a respectable $121 for the Ariel Ambulance project.

We had several people there who had never seen Serenity before. And some of the 76th Battalion drove up from Georgia to attend. We had a great time!

Many photos and much video was taken, but this is the only one I've seen posted so far. Matt is in the background, and Jewel is the one on the left :-)

We sold out here in Seattle, and we had not a single person who came in not buy raffle tickets.

I personally spent $90 on raffle tickets, and still managed to win nothing lol (I put them mostly in one basket as we had different baskets and you could pick which you wanted to go in for).

No worries, all is shiny cause yesterday wasn't about winning it was about The Big Damn Movie and The Big Damn Charity. It was an absolute blast.

I enjoyed getting fully dressed out in my costume for the first time.

Looking forward to the next big shindig I can attend.

Browncoat through and through, more oft than not I have found myself adrift in the black, wondering if I had enough in me to keep flying.

I was glad to have had the opportunity to help out.

Volunteering was rewarding. I was the lady in the homeade browncoat. A bit darker and longer than cannon but I love it. Its mine. ^_^

WHOOOOOT!

Just back home from San Francisco (I live about 5 hours away). It looked to me like we sold out, but I can't confirm that offhand. Had a blast with other Browncoats, and we drew ALOT of attention all standing in line at the theater.

Next year, I think we need little cards describing the event and promoting Equality Now to hand out to the folks who asked, "Oh! What's this line for?" ...

I loved the symbolism of holding the San Fran showing on Pride Weekend! I thought it was a great idea. But then, I had to try to drive to the theater through downtown SF with half the streets blocked off for Pride... maybe no so goooooood?

I just got an update from Flame, the organizer for the Raleigh NC CSTS. They raised $3,500! It's an estimate because there's still a few shiny bits left.

If you want to see pics of the SOLD OUT Raleigh shindig please go to www.raleighshindig.blogspot.com.
