I love Firefly! Really I do... and for the most part I've been impressed by it's TV filming thus far. However last night's Our Mrs. Reynolds... I don't know if it's just me or my satellite signals or my 32" is in need of repair, but the lighting in that episode seemed really really poorly done.

Starting from the beginning of the episode in the campfire scenes and then later on in the ship... everything seemed to have a black nastiness to it.
Anyone else notice this?
Some Directors in need of direction on how to light a set?

Firefly. As long as it keeps throwing me curveballs, I'll be happy.

I think perhaps it was just you? I thought the lighting was *amazing*... it's one of the first things I noticed about the episode, actually. Perhaps it was your reception?

okay. I appologize for the forum post then. Since I have satellite and was watching from there, the 'reception' should be good.

probably someone mucking with the TV settings when I wasn't around then. Dang kids!

... or else I need my eyes checked.

Apologies.

Well, it's not necessarily that you and your TV are wrong here; there really is something unusual about the way light is handled in this show. The other person who responded here (whose name I can't see right now) noticed it too; (s)he just responded to it favorably instead of negatively. So I figure it's a part of how the people making the show want to present it, and it just doesn't work equally well or equally poorly for all audience members.
