That makes two possible nods to Firefly/Serenity.

Serenity: Mal says "This is what I do".

In Waitress Doctor says something like "I'm going to go deliver a baby. That's what I do." NCBROWNCOAT thanks for the quote.

That whole office scene was so funny and contains so many good lines. Nathan was at his bumbling, nervous best.

If it was intentional, might be mentioned on the DVD. Nathan could always mention it in an interview or on his myspace. I remember him mentioning the Firefly shoutout in White Noise: The Light.

WHITEFALL

Tragically Adrienne Shelly (who played Dawn in the movie and directed it also) wrote the screenplay and was murdered a few months ago, so we'll probably never know for sure. But it might be a shoutout. Does anyone know if fillion was cast long enough after Serenity for it to have been "oh i saw this guy in that movie"?
