If They can make another X-Files movie, then another Serenity Movie is even more likely.

I was on the internet today and came across some news about another X-Files Movie. I went to the TXF OB and confirmed it with my longtime source.

Now, for those you don't know me. I was a die-hard TXF fan before I became a Browncoat. I was certain we would never hear from Chris Carter again after the series ended on TV. A small group of us on the internet demanded more. GA & DD seem like they wanted to more on.

That was in 2002....now it's 5 years later.......it's coming back!!

Just thought I would share this exciting news as a sign of hope and to "never give up" (from TXF)

*Please forgive my typing errors.....I am way excited about this & can't think!!**

Or as many of us would say....."We Hold!"

I have other links but they are to other message boards & I don't know if that is breaking a rule around here, Thanks!

Now I am learning about scary.

Wow, that's excellent news! I always thought there were supposed to be more X-Files movies and I occasionally feel all nostalgic, wondering what happened to that plan. Now I have renewed hope!

Thanks for sharing the news!

The big difference is that the X-Files franchise has generated at lot more money than Firefly/Serenity. Also not lost on executives is the much larger fan base of X-Files, and even though the movie version wasn't that great a large percentage of those fans are still clamoring for more.

Used to be a daily poster over at the X-Files Idealists Haven until some little cancelled TV show came along and stole my attention away from Mulder and Scully...

We'd been talking about this for awhile and while it's super exciting, it appears that it's going to be a non-mythology story. Meaning, it's not picking up where the movie left off. It's not going to be about colonization and the eventual invasion! So I'm wondering, what the heck it's going to be about?!? I mean, is it going to be set in the past? Cuz Mulder got kicked out of the FBI, remember? And what about William the wunderkind? Are they just going to leave us hanging about that? I guess so...

I mean they killed off all their great villains: Cigarette Smoking Man and the Consortium and Alex Krycek... Where can they go from here? I'm just really irritated that we'll never get to see the big final showdown. Or when the show ended, were they telling us it was pretty much hopeless? That yeah, Mulder and Scully were finally together, but the world was going to go to shit in a few short years and there was nothing they could do about it?

Grrr. Argh.

Oh well, I guess that's why we have fanfic.

BTW, Spacegirl, if you want to read a super-awesome illustrated (and with music!) post-series X-Files fanfic, check out AKA Jake's opus magnum "Abaddon's Reign". It's a post-colonization fic. Oh, boy, it's a doozy. I highly recommend it. http://akajake.net/abaddon.htm

WOW! You were at The Haven? So was I! What ever happen to that place?

Thank you so much for the fanfic link. I haven't found any good XF fanfic for quite sometime. It is also nice to meet Browncoats who were TXF fans.

And could you PLEASE PM where you are reading about what the movie is about? I thought Chris Carter was being very closed lips about all of this. I would love to know.

To be very clear....I thought TXF was done & over with after the series Finale. Not too many fans were happy with how it ended. And you bring up many good questions about the mytharc. Many of the questions you bring up many never be resolved.

The movie did 'okay' when it came out. As I understand it, the movie just broke even at the BOX office. FOX keep the series running on TV because they didn't have another show to fill it's slot. 24 wasn't around just yet. All the fan website & message boards started to die a slow & miserable death. And then many found Firefly/ Serenity.

Overall, I guess the Franchise did make a enough money. This is the mostly likely reason why we are going to see another movie. Well, the only reason because it seem like we said 'Good-bye' to Mulder & Scully many times before.

How does this relate to the Browncoasts? Maybe nothing. But it is important to know that many of the die-hard TXF fans are shocked & surprised by this news. I don't believe many fans were asking for more after the series ended on TV. I know because I visited every message board (I'm a real geek in my other life)

My point....you just never know. And we can all guess/ speculate what the powers-that-be are thinking....but you just never know.......

I don't think a large number of fans are asking for another movie.

I think the men in charge are looking at the $$$. 1013 closed their office years ago Mulder's office is in some TV museum in CA. Why else would they bring a TV show back from the dead?

If there is a dollar to be made.......they will make the movie. You right that the overall Franchise for TXF made FOX a lot of money. Fight the Future just broke even at the box office when it first came out.

Heck, it didn't even get a Special Edition

Yeah, when I came upon this thread I was pretty shocked at how ironic it was. Not more than a week ago a thought popped into my head "hey, what ever happened to that second x-files movie that was supposedly in the works?" I IMDBed it to see if it pulled a straight to DVD release. It didn't and I left it at that. But yeah I'm glad to hear they might be doing more movies. The story didn't feel "closed" to me after the finale. I remember waking up the next morning (I had recorded it) and watching it with great anticipation to see how it would all end, and when it finally did come to a close I felt really ripped off. Anyway, yeah that's about it for me. Thanks for posting!

I found it ironic for another reason. I was an X-files fan from the very beginning, and early on it was very iffy in the ratings. The irony to me is that Fox gave X-files a chance to develop a following, and that ever since then they have killed shows that could have developed just as large a following or larger. I'm curious as to what brought about the change in Fox's thinking at the top levels to cause this quick response to cancel shows. If they are banking on Reality TV to float their whole network, they have lost me as a viewer. I'll pick the shows of theirs that I have to have, and I will buy them from eBay or some other secondary market that doesn't benefit Fox beyond the initial sale. I'm not going to invest time or emotion in that network again.

So who is he?
He's my husband.
Well who in the damn galaxy ain't!
