Serenity's sunflower kitchen chair, help me find one!

After much time I've finally gotten my wife to watch the Firefly series! She liked the kitchen scenes and focused particularly on the sunflower backed chair at the mess table, to the point of waiting for it and saying 'see, that one, pause it, go back...etc. etc.' Now my wife would like a set of those chairs. I blythly said that if she noticed, someone else had to and they likely are sold somewhere. Help me out, has anyone heard of them or know what I'm talking about? The chair with the starburst/sunflower pattern that usually faces the camera. We saw it last in the last episode on the 4th DVD.

Any pointers to links out there that will save me a little woodworking?! Thank you for any help you can give.

I know more painters than I know woodworkers, maybe you can find a chair you like and paint the sunflowers on... much easier than carving them, but would still have the FEEL.

Hi there-

Ask and ye shall receive...sort of.

The chair in question is Mexican pine - generally known as "Hacienda" style, and sometimes "Sol", the Spanish word for sun.

Mexican rustic isn't what my company does, but after a little scouring, I was able to find this:

However, it's seat is rushed, not wood like Mal's chair. And, it's stool height, not dining chair.
It is unusual that a company would not sell the matching dining chair, so you may want to go here:

and ask them if they can make it into a dining chair for you. The site says they do custom work as well...

Please post a pic of your dining room when you get it finished.

Awesome MAVOURNEEN!

I probably won't be ordering any custom work, since you likely know what THAT costs, but it's graphics like this that might help me make a set myself if it comes to that, or even get a pattern. On the off chance that a local discount furniture store doesn't make them! I trully appreciate, both of you, taking the time to rely. I've been sweating it out after telling my wife, 'sure, you can find anything on the web'!
