A Nod to Firefly????

In the Firefly episode "Our Mrs Reynolds" Mal says:

"but if your hand touches metal I swear by my pretty floral bonnet I will end you."

On the Bones episode "Aliens in a Spaceship" Booth says:

That deadline comes around and my partner is still in the ground, I will end you.

Was this another nod to Firefly or just use of a common term? I think the former.

Gosh, I love that show. As for the nod to Firefly, sometimes I think that Browncoats look for references everywhere, and seeing one run with it. As for this one, I'm going to have to vote for coincedence. The phrase 'I will end you' has gathered more and more steam as of late (IMHO) and is becoming more and more understood as a pretty serious threat. The first time I heard it was years ago in either Good Will Hunting or that other Robin Williams movie. Let's just hope it was Good Will Hunting, shall we? Because I can't remember the other one. Anyway, so yeah, I vote for coinkydink, simply because I've heard it floating around and had even uttered it myself a several occasions before seeing that particular ep of Firefly. Now, if he had said, by my pretty floral bonnet... Then we could say something. The General Public wouldn't have gotten it, but Browncoats would have, and that would have been totally worth it.
