There's no punishement to be had. Just a lesson to learn about etiquette. You probably didn't know it was bad form to do this but you do now.

If you want to post an image you have not created in your site, you need to ask the permission of the graphic maker. Additionally, it's good form to actually save the image to your computer and upload it yourself, instead of using the other person's links, which is called hotlinking and is frowned upon because it steals other's brandwidth.

Just be careful next time. Asking for permission and actually crediting is a must.

Wow -- no need to be quite so hard on yourself, there. I assume its your first time handling this sort of thing, so its understandable that you'd make a mistake. Thank you for removing the avatar. As I said, the only reasons I had a problem with it were 1) I was neither asked about using it, nor credited for creating it, and 2) that one happens to be my personal icon, that I created specifically for my sig. Really, if you had asked to use any other thing I've made, I would have had no problem with it.

So, don't beat yourself up, okay? Just remember to ask next time!
