Question About FireFly TV Rights

Hey everyone, Newbie here and I have a question. I saw on another site, some time ago, that FOX still holds the rights to the Firefly names and characters. I heard that this was the case for eight years.

My first questions is, for how many years does Fox own the rights?

How do we determine, the start of that timeframe? i.e. from the day they were presented with the idea, from the time they signed the show, from the start of shooting??

To whom does the rights revert to at the end of the contract or does someone still have to purchase them from FOX???

As the end approaches, would FOX be more willing to sell the rights????

Could Universal Studios simply wait FOX out and pick up the rights in a couple of years and do a spin off or more movies?????

If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.

DEVONNITE, first of all welcome to the boat and the FFF/forum. Have some mudders milk.

Now as per you question. I have no idea how long fox has the tv rights on FireFly. fox having those rights for one week is long enough. That's part of the aggravation. They have a property that we all know can be a success and make money yet they refuse to return it to the airwaves. It's sadistic of them. They're evil,they're dirt, they're fei-oo and they know it. That's pretty low in my book. They are pure alliance and I'm sure they've heard how rotten they are in thousands of posts.Mine and yours won't make a difference. But it does feel good to get this anger out.

Sorry for venting on you like this but when a new recruit comes to the forum and asks "WHY doesn't fox start the show up again?" Well it's just a question that none of us have an answer for.

I understand the frustration, but my question was more of, when will FOXs ownership of the rights be over, so someone who cares about the property can pick it up? But again I understand.

That's okay. I vent my own self sometimes. And I heard worse. A lot worse. If it makes you feel better without harming others than go for it.

P.S. And I know it didn't hurt Fox because that would mean they have feelings.

Sorry if I came across as a raving looney. I was channeling River.Anyway I wasn't mad or anything but I am very disapointed in fox. Guess I'll stay that way.

Anyhoo- DEVONNITE I have no idea how long they have the rights for. So I do not have an answer for you,sorry. Maybe someone at the forum here will see your question and know the answer. Time for me to have a swig of mudders milk or two...or three.

I have been doing some homework and so far it doesn't seem that anyone knows how long the contract is for. I will keep searching. I don't want to believe that we are humped, but no rutting way I will believe that the Alliance, I mean FOX, willever come to their senses.
