This says they're bringing back Futurama because of the fan base... As if Firefly doesn't have a big fan base. Well, maybe it can give us some hope.

Not really...

Animation is cheaper than live action. No sets, less crew. The bulk of the animation is usually done overseas, which also means less money spent. Also, the voice actors can record their lines for an episode in a day--which means no need for wardrobe, makeup, trailers, etc.

All of those reasons are why FOX brings back shows like Family Guy and Futurama and not Firefly.

For me, however, this is a huge victory. Before discovering Firefly, Futurama was my absolute favorite show. Now it's my 2nd favorite show. The only other series that I own every episode of. I can't tell you how excited I am that they are making new Futurama episodes. Now if only I didn't have to wait until 2008!

Actually, why not have an animated Firefly series. Some animation is really really good, and i imagine that stuff probably wouldn't cost more than 2 million or so an episode. That's not too bad, and it'd probably cost a LOT less than that. So why can't we have animated Firefly?
