Operative have a name?

You know it just came to be a thought on the Operative from the Serenity movie -- did he have a name? Or just always known as "The Operative"?

At the beginning of Serenity, he said he had no name- that was the whole 'No name, no rank- like the facility, he doesn't exist' thing...

EMBERS

in Joss' commentary he says that the Operative had no name, and no life outside of being a weapon of the Alliance. At the end he has lost even that.

oh...that is a very interesting theory...

I always assumed that Book had formerly been an officer in the military industrial complex (maybe in Blue Sun Corp), he may even have helped create the 'academy' where River was sent....

but a former Operative, that is a definite possibility.
