Would that be great or what? Just think of what Josh could do with what ended up on the cutting room floor. Can you imagine a 3 or 3 1/2 hour serenity?

I can imagine, and I think it would be shiny, but sadly it's not likely to happen. I can't remember if it was him that said something to the effect of "I was the director, and the final version was the director's cut." but I'm pretty sure it was.
Actually, maybe that was Kevin Smith...
Anyway.
I'm saddest that not even everything ended up in "deleted scenes". I would have liked to see more of what was cut, even if it was never edited back into the movie. I'd like to see everything.
Still waiting for the Special Shiny Edition!

Joss said the version that was shown in theaters was his director's cut. That being the case we probably won't see one with that exact tag.

On the other hand, however, Universal knows how rabid this fandom is and how the purchase of multiple copies is not frowned upon =p I do expect that we will see a special edition of some sort, even if we don't get extended movie goodness.
