Quote:BrewBunny wrote on Jun 24 2006, 11:36 AM The Midnight Movie in San Francisco was fabulous! :) I don't know if it was sold out, but the theater looked pretty durn full. We had some great costumed groups that I got pictures of and which I'll post later today. And I know that it was a smashing success on at least one front: my sister had never seen Firefly or Serenity before and went with me. She's fully hooked after just one night. One new Browncoat recruited, a million more to recruit! LOL!

Quote:JUMPER wrote on Friday, June 23, 2006 - 22:44 Pasadena, CA sold out. I just got back. As a recently recruited browncoat who missed seeing Serenity in theaters the first time (I knew about FF and didn't want to see the movie before the show) I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to all the SoCal Browncoats for making the screening happen.

Quote:IVY wrote on Sunday, June 25, 2006 - 03:54 It was my first time seeing the BDM on the big screen also (although we have a pretty big TV, so it looks pretty good at home). As for sound, the theatre I saw it in had pretty crappy sound, so that was the only thing that is actually better at home (we have surround sound). But I agree, seeing it on the big screen gave it new life and dimension. Two things that were significantly different for me on the big screen. 1) When Jayne gets hit with the reaver bolt, it really freaked me out. I actually jumped. (not so bad when it's small); and 2) When Mal lands on the platform above the generator (at Mr. Universe's place) and a box falls off the edge, I got horrible vertigo (I have a problem with heights). It never bothers me on my TV.

Quote: newcj wrote on June 25, 23:28 Thread: http://whedonesque.com/comments/10703 Well it turned out that the Whedon-newbie friend that went with me to the NYC screening, is a Wonder Woman fan. After seeing Serenity, she is very excited about Joss, who she had never heard of before, doing a Wonder Woman movie. She also apparently could not wait for delivery to order the Serenity DVD on Amazon. She was going out looking for it yesterday after taking her daughter to a birthday party. I know this because she called me yesterday, supposedly to thank me for inviting her to take part in such a fun evening. I knew that that was secondary though. I recognized the signs. She just wanted to tell someone who would not think she had gone crazy how much she LOVED Serenity...a few times...in different ways each time, of course. BTW, she also loved the Equality Now speech and thought the fans in attendance were great. She loved that everyone seemed to be having such a good time and I had to agree with her. In other words a Whedon fan of my personal aquaintance was born Friday night. Yippee. It is getting less lonely in this neck of the woods. ;-)
