I'm now rounding up my research on Firefly and fandom but I'd like to know whether the show has features identifiable as being from a cult programme? this is open to interpretation and I'm really looking for your opinion...is it the mix of western/sci-fi?, swearing in Chinese?, having catchphrases which fans can use?...let me know, (essentially what makes Firefly, Firefly?)

EMBERS

iconic characters which people naturally identify with and care deeply about...
epic adventures with universal metaphors make this cult worthy...

but to me personally I am a sucker for the humor, and the journey.
