I just watched the supposed "trailer" for The Hobbit feature film due out on December 19, 2006.

I can't help but think that this is a hoax, being that most of the footage is taken straight from The Lord of the Rings movies. It also appears that some of it is taken from The Reign of Fire.

I downloaded it off of Lime Wire, and would like your guy's opinions of it. Have any of you seen it yet?

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's been floating around since Return of the King was released. Right now there are no plans for PJ to do The Hobbit. The rights are still in lawyer limbo and the next project is supposed to be Secret Life of Bees.

Peter Jackson may be quite the genius, but far as I'm concerned, there's nothing all that wrong with the animated Hobbit from a ways back ;p

Jackson does the Hobbit, I'm sure it'll be great, but he'd better leave those songs in there. I still get those stuck in my head

Last I heard they had actually acquired the rights but weren't actually doing anything with them yet.

I daresay that if it were coming out this year we'd have heard about it by now, and if the trailer has shots from Reign of Fire in it... well, A) it's probably not real, and B) I'm sorry, I saw it, too.

The dragon footage is taken from Dragonslayer. Last I heard they were talking about doing The Hobbit as a twenty part TV series which I think would actually suit the book better than one movie.
