Greetings, dear friends. I mentioned a while ago in the thread about "you know you are a Browncoat if..." that one of my Firefly-derived pleasures was reading the new reviews for the box set at Amazon.com. It just feels great to see so many people STILL discovering how great of a show Firefly was (is?) and how much it still effects people in a positive way.

One person there posted a link to a recent review of the show which summed up their feelings about Firefly. I'd have to agree with that sentiment. Keep in mind that this is a professional TV/film reviewer who has had to endure all the shoddy crap that the medium offers us nowdays. She not only watched the whole damn set, but watched it MANY times! Hell, we'll probably see her at the next Flanvention!

boy, that --MaryAnn Johanson, is my kind of stupid....and i mean that in the most sincerly appreciative way possible. She hit all the high points alright.

I check the Amazon feedback on Firefly/Serenity from time to time my own self. What's it up to now? 3000? I wonder if there is anything else that has that much feedback..? I'm in there somewhere with my 5 stars.... and that's mostly what i see...5 stars...hell, i would have given it a 10...

Do you think anyone at Amazon notices these things? Does it make a difference....

I can't speak for Amazon, but I know that seeing all those 5 star ratings make ME feel a bit more justified in my love for this show and the charactors who live in it. I wonder if Joss, Nathan, Jewell or any of the other members of the cast and crew read these as well? I would think that Joss and the gang would feel tremendous pride if they read them. It offers proof that they were right! They really WERE on to something totally special! They really WERE a part of something great, and there are many people out there who not only "get it" but truly love it as well.

Thanks for the tip, fun stuff to read!

It's nice to know that there are grown-ups, uh, by which I mean people in the TV industry, who share our love.

Wow...she really voiced everything I love about this show but am unable to articulate because well...I'm just not articulate. I wish more media types would get the fever like her.

I keep an eye on the Amazon reviews as well. I find they are a great source for the "pulse" of the re-light campaign. With the exception of the few one-star "It wuz stupid, wears the aliens an phasers?!?" reviews, the majority of recent reviews have all been 5-star, "how did I miss this awesome show when it aired?" testimonies from newcomers.

As for me, I truly don't know how I missed this awesome show when it aired, but I'm damn glad I'm aboard now. I stay hopeful when I see that more like-minded newcomers like me show up every day!

Edit: Oh, in case you're wondering, as of today, March 9, 2006, 2148 out of 2294 of the reviews are 5-star reviews.
Edit: Make that 2149 out of 2295...and counting...

I get the feeling that they do... at least, they read some of the reviews.

The entire cast of Firefly strikes me as folks who really loved the show they were working on, every bit of it. And, none of them strike me as the kind who'd get some ego over it (off of the praise, mind you, not the short run-time).

In fact, one not-so-subtle thing I enjoyed seeing is the part of the convention film, where half of the cast brought cameras up on stage to photograph the crowd. It kind of shows that they're just as happy to be there as the fans are.

Oh, yeah, and Ron Glass is all manner of awesome. KF

Lord, I'm walking your way. Let me in, for my feet are sore, my clothes are ragged.
Look in my eyes, Lord, and my sins will play out on them as on a screen. Read them all.
Forgive what you can and send me on my path. I will walk on until you bid me rest.
