BULLET1510

I often wondered how characters from other ‘verses would interact with Firefly’s crew – I suspect that most of the Star Trek guys would end up being spaced out of the nearest airlock or suffer an up close and personal encounter with Vera. But what about other sci-fi TV characters, for example, what about Avon (a personal favourite) from Blake’s 7, how would he react to Mal or to Jayne!!??.

Sample dialog from the B7 series: (Please note that it may not be word perfect – I’m remembering it from 20+ years ago)

Tarrant (the brash and plucky pilot) has just done something heroic…

Avon: “You really believe in taking risks, don’t you?”

Tarrant: “Calculated ones.”

Avon: “Calculated on what... your fingers?”

I can still remember Paul Darrow’s wonderfully sexy voice – just the right amount of patronising disdain :)

Blake’s 7 and Firefly rank as two of my most favourite TV series (no matter the genre). Coincidently Blake’s 7 also suffered from Network gutlessness, although the BBC did hold off for 4 seasons (the last season only happened because of fans’ outrage at the show being cancelled). It’s also interesting how many reviewers of Firefly reference Blake’s 7, I suppose it’s because the characters from both shows are so three dimensional and had the capacity to grow and change (sometimes for the worse), and although both series were clearly sci-fi – that aspect was the least important, it was all about the people – people ;)

KAYNA

I love my captain

The Blake's 7 reference goes beyond me. I'm only 21 but it does sound like they'd get along.
I think I'm going to go with Farscape. I only ever saw bits of this show so some of what I say may be wrong. It seems to me however that the two crews would get along at least on a limited basis. There are even similar character types (with less depth, in my opinion, but still similar). The problem with that is that if a person is too much like you (espesially if they are extremely strong willed and stubborn) They can get on your nerves after a bit.
Anyway, weren't most of the characters on Farscape convicted criminals? Anyway, both crews live outside the law and are being chased by a lot of people who want something/someone that they have: River and her powers and the secrets she knows, Crighton and the wormhole tech in his head
In both cases the main guys biggest concern is thier crew, thier family. Everything else takes second place and, in fact, they do almost everything they can to stay out of the bigger picture untill thier forced into it. Although Chrighton always seemed a bit more altruistic than Mal

Op: You're fighting a war you've already lost.
Mal: Yeah, well I'm known for that.
