Mike Resnick May Be A Browncoat...

I just got a copy of The Return of Santiago by Mike Resnick from the library and the character and ship on the front cover look very familiar. Some of the dialogue could have been between Mal and Inara as well: for example: "One of these days you're going to say yes, and it'll be a race to see which of us drops dead from shock first."

"One of these days you'll get an honest job, and maybe I'll say yes."

:If I had an honest job, I couldn't afford you."

(byplay between main character and Duchess in a tavern)

Anybody know if Resnick is a Firefly fan? Book was published in 2003 so it is possible. Of course the prequel's character is somewhat Mal-ish too, so maybe it is coincidence?
