Building Jayne's Gun

I'm trying to build a replica (obviously

) of Jayne's hand gun seen in Ariel. I've seen the screenies found somewhere on this website (can't remember how to get there at the moment) that are very good.

Also, a friend of mine has determined that the base gun is a LeMat Navy pistol used by cavalry during the War Between the States (aka the Civil War to those damn yankees). Found a good base for a decent price that I'll be purchasing soon, what I'm wondering about is the add-ons.

There are at least a couple parts on Jayne's gun that are not on the LeMat, and I'm hoping someone already knows what they are. If not, I'll just have to browse the local hardware store (oh darn

) and see what I can come up with. Just hopin' I could pick the brain of someone who's already built one.

Additionally, if anyone is aware of someone sellin' a resin cast of Jayne's gun, that'd be shiney too.

Oh yeah. If anyone's read any of the "Making of . . ." books on Firefly or Serenity and it mentions this handgun, or Zoe's shotgun for that matter, that'd be useful as well.

Zoe's shotgun in Serenity is a Winchester 1897. It used to be dirt cheap, until the folks in the SASS/Cowboy Action Shooting game started buying 'em all up. :)

Her sidearm is a cut down Winchester 1892, in .44-40.
