I was thinking a bit about Firefly and how sad I was and then, out of the west (my ipod deck being on my left at work) cam the Magnificent Seven Main Theme from the Return of the Magnificient Seven, by Elmer Bernstein. An extremely FF/S-worthy piece of music it is in its own right, and then I remembered that there are only seven crew members left.

CHeered me right up it did.

By the way, if none of you are familiar with Elmer Bernstein's work on western film scores, you're missing out.

I like that piece of music and you are right, it's Firefly/Serenity-esque.

There's a great compilation CD out there called Best of the West that has that and some other nice western-film-style selections on it. Very enjoyable.

Very Firefly-esque type guitar and violin/fiddle.

Yes, I have an all guitar version of that song by Helm & Heik (they are a German guitar duo, just like Apocalytica do Metallica songs on four cellos, those guys do all kinds of soundtrack music on two guitars, that's very funny sometimes). I will probably use their Magnificent Seven interpretation for a Firefly vid, the pure guitar sound really fits to it.

I listened to it just yesterday, because I was collecting some music for MisterUniverse from my CD collection and thought how will it fits for Firefly/Serenity as well.
