Just had a funny thought. Imagine if Mal had answered, "Well, yeah, I do tend to favor the menfolk."

Wouldn't Nandi have been disappointed?

Guess it would've had a negative impact on the whole Mal/Inara thing, though...

Well, we probably still would have seen Inara sobbing... but even more so with that news.

Nandi and Inara team up to combine their Companion skills ( wonder twins activate ) to try and convince Mal he is on the wrong team. Wicked fun ensues!!!

Well I think Inara with all of her super-companion-people-reading-skills would have picked up on it when they first met. Plus the whole Safron episode wouldn't have been possible.

But hey, maybe if he'd turned out to be gay we wouldn't have all these people ranting and raving over how much they hate Brokeback Mountain and theres a gay conspiracy and work against Serenity.

I think River might turn out to be a lesbian though. I don't think shes made a single hint at the possibility of being attracted to men.

If this is talking about Shindig, she wasn't flirting, she was putting him in his place ("sad little king of a sad little hill"). If it happens in the film, I don't know because I haven't seen it.

Yea, Badger liked her but she sure as hell wasn't coming on to him.
As for the scene where she watches Kaylee and Simon, I think that was just supposed to be funny, with her being all wierd and curious.
Although, remember that scene at the end of Objects in Space, where Kaylee is telling River about the well-endowed pre-teen she nailed? River blushes and seems kinda wierded out by the story. Don't know what bearing that might have,
