Were I not a poor college student with absolutely no experience with Cons and road trips, I'd be more inclined to agree.

It really is all a matter of time/money. Mostly time, seeing how it's at the start of the fall semester.

In fact, my one friend, upon asking my if he wanted to go to D*C, instead laughed at the idea of ME going...

CALLMESERENITY

Well,all I can say is, I'd never been to a Con before either. Never been into sci-fi or anything like that. Never had a Fandom till Firefly. I'm still reconcilling myself to having fallen into these ranks. I don't much care about famous people or dressing like an alien. Nor do I like large crowds, BO, drunkenness or loud noises.

But, I went to D*C last year and had a BLAST. So much fun, I can't even begin to tell you. I was in a parade and worked a fan booth and walked around wearing a ridiculous orange hat on my head and giggled (yes, giggled) when Adam Baldwin complimented me on my name. Plus, I met tonnes of other shiny browncoats. It was amazing and I am NOT missing next year if I can help it at all.

So, I guess, all I'm saying is, don't say "ka" until you've tried it.

Eh, I ain't saying "no" to Cons altogether. I think I need a few more years before getting into it, though. When I'm not so bound by the collegiete system, parents wanting me to stay in said system, and all that.

So yeah, I think I'm gonna sit this one out.

Also, don't say 'ka' unless you want me to start rambling on about 19 and the Man in Black and Johnny Cash and all that Dark Tower business. I'm prone to do it.

Oh nevermind You're right.
I still need to look to the possibility of getting the cheaper rooms up the street. Unless people object to the block walk. Sometimes it's worth the extra to be in the heart of the beast.

Random suggestion: As our two favourite threads begin to get full we may consider creating the next floors/additions in a different catagory of threads, like the Sereni-Tree. It's in talk Story, which allows one to click talk story on the right side of the main page and find it easier. With the increasing number of newer folk posting the same type of questions in multiple threads, it's sometimes a challenge to dig us up.
