Howdy folks!

As we begin putting free game content, articles, and other shiny material up on the Cortex, I thought I would answer a question that pops up a lot regarding the "officialness" of the material in the Serenity Role Playing Game -- or the word that fandom loves to use: canon.

If you would like to read my rambles on the subject, hop over to our website and check it out. There's lots more shiny content coming soon.

That's an informative and well-written article, Jamie. I'm glad you address that idea of canon and how it relates to the RPG. I agree with the article, but have a question that that it only answers in a small way...

What if, in my 'verse, Londinum is always foggy and is mostly forest, but in a future supplement your Londinum is a sunny desert? Or what if in my 'verse you can never get from Ariel to Haven in less than 12 days, but in an official adventure it becomes important that we get from Ariel to Haven in under 10 hours?

Thanks for the response. My answer is that we will always strive for consistency, unless we need to update our view of things to better match changes or new information to the property. So while we'll build on the details in the core book, we'll try not to go around contradicting ourselves.

As to new material that doesn't match your home game... you can either integrate it or ignore it. It's up to you!

Yup, nice little article, complete with the obligatory "how I became a Browncoat" story

Which is true of any game, of course... but it's always worth restating!

And look Serenity Out in the Black will be real in March. But my question is, as a non-RPGer, will I enjoy this book as much as I enjoy Serenity the Role Playing Game book. Love those Conversations with Malcolm Reynolds.

I bought it for my brother and thought because of the cover that it would just have drawings inside. I was surprised that it had color pictures of the crew and scenes from the movie and lots of reading material of interest to non-RPGers. I got myself a copy.

Thank you.

"Out in the Black" Explained. Some Browncoats have noticed a new listing up on Amazon.com for a new product that currently has no art or description. This is a premature listing (with a completely incorrect) release date for the product, which is currently scheduled in March. We have news on this product coming soon, including a full press release. Visit again soon for more details."

We have a press release coming very soon on the product. In the meantime know it's a very exciting adventure written by best-selling authors Tracy & Laura Hickman! It will be great for new or experienced players, and will be useful as a resource even for those who don't run scripted adventures.

More soon. Promise!

Luv your little dancer .gif there, very adorable. I'm mostly curious if you might be using your screenname in the same sense that, ummm... Gary Oldman used the description in "Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula?" - forgive me if this topic has come up before... for my part it's kind of a rare point of interest, so I thought I'd ask.
