Firefly will be on Sci-Fi channel from 8 AM to 7 PM on January 6. If the ratings are good enough Sci-Fi might pickup Firefly and make it their own. So set your TiVo’s, support the show, and cross your fingers. Get the word out, everyone must know.

Tivo has no influence on any ratings. I know because I've has Tivo for years. They are working toward including DVRs in the rating system but they aren't their yet. So you will just have to watch it.

It also has to be from the select homes across the country that the ratings services have set up. I for example have never been picked to be in the Nielsens, or any others, in my life. The ratings services don't track what most of us watch unless we're specifically signed up to take part in their surveys. At least that's the way it used to be. Maybe now with Directv, digital cable, etc, they can track what we all watch?

NUISANCE

Once, I checked out the Nielsen website to see how they determine their ratings. There are two methods of collecting the data. The first involves Nielsen households where participants keep a journal of their viewing choices. The second is a tracker based system where tuner boxes record what some people are watching in certain major markets.
