ACESANDEIGHTS

There hasnt been a word confirming a sequel, or confirming there WONT be a sequel. Be patient, buy Serenity DVDs and we will get some form of content, maybe even a *sequel*.

We don't know that it won't have a cinema sequel. I'm guessing we won't know for a while yet, since the DVD doesn't go International until February so we shall have to wait and see.

Keep thinking positive :)

STORYMARK

That depends on a lot of things. A lot of low-grossing movies that get sequels are made for a lot less money than Serenity. It's not so much the gross that matters, but the profit. A movie that grosses $10 million may have taken in a lot less than Serenity, but if it was only made for $5 million, it's doubled it's production cost. Unfortunetly at this point,Serenity has yet to break even on that front.

And then there is the mighty DVD. Many theatrical flops have become massive hits on DVD, which often makes them profitable. The first Austin Powers is porbably the most famouse example.

Now, once the Serenity DVD is released, the film will definitly break even. But it will have to become a big, big hit on DVD in order to pull in enough profit to justify a sequel.

So buy everyone you know a copy for Christmas.

I have heard many times...
"Sci-fi movies are so expensive"

Why is that? In the past I could buy that statement...before CGI. But now? Still? Really?

And since Firefly/Serenity is so much more about the characters...how much CGI is there really???

Uwe Boll gets his money from German companies, who are taking advantage of a tax loophole in which they can actually make money by funding bad movies, just like in The Producers, well not really like The Producers since it's actually leagal.
