I am watching the Firefly DVDs...again :D

And I notice something different every time. This particular round, I really paid attention to the fight scenes (Shindig opening...the Bar Fight on Unification Day...etc..)

And...well.. THEY ARE DAMN GOOD! You don't wince because they look too fake, there are no super-natural overdone looking segments...they look like REAL fights! Particularly when Zoe and Mal fight dirty. I can believe they have actually had a tussle or two in real life.

Who ever worked on their fight scenes need a pat on the back.

GIANTEVILHEAD

Most people do not know what "real fights" look like. Even though some fights in movies and tv shows "look real," they're not realistic.

I have seen (and participated in) the real thing a few times...hee hee hee.

Funniest one ever was on my 18th birthday. I was bar-hopping with friends (because this was the legal drinking age in Wisconsin way back then) when I walked into this bar to the sound of a breaking beer bottle.

Well, turns out that my MOM was the one that smashed the end of the beer bottle on the bar and she then took said broken beer bottle and used it to back some goon up against the wall. She had one hand on his collar and was holding the beer bottle against his neck. Apparently the big goon had grabbed her boob and this made my mom a tad cranky.

I had gasped "MOM!?!?!" when I saw all this and then the bartender ordered me to take her out of there ASAP before he called the cops. She really wanted to cut this guy and I had one hell of a time dragging her off him. I finally had to promise to take her out to a different bar and pay for her drinks. Happy Birthday to me...Ahhh...life in a small Wisonsin town :)

CHRISISALL

Real fights are sloppy and bloody, lips and noses flow with so little provocation. If y'all want to see realistic fight scenes watch the movie 'Defiance' with Jan-Michael Vincent, for my money, the best of down and dirty fisticuffs.
But yeah, the fights on FF and Serenity are well choreographed and entertaining, with just enough realism to slide the slick moves by as believable.
