Okay, so we know River is psychic, but here's something me and my friend keep arguing about:
I think that River only knows what has happened, or what is happening. My friend thinks that River knows what's going to happen.. so which is right?
Does River only know what's happening/has happened, or does she know what will happen?

Personally? I think she knows what is happening and what has happened. I don't think she knows what will happen.

I mean, sure, she's a genius and she can probably judge to a fairly accurate degree the probabilities of what might happen given the thoughts/motivations/expectations/abilities of those involved, but I don't think it's possible to know to any certain degree what's going to happen.

Take 'Objects In Space'.

She could judge, given what she knows and could read about Early, that he would more than likely come back to his ship if he knew she was on board and willing to be his bounty, but she didn't know that Simon would get shot.

She knew that he was coming on board and had to formulate a plan to get rid of him, but didn't know exactly how he would affect or utilise the crew.
