Could Staite and Maher be a cult Tracey and Hepburn?

I just got back from ELIZABETHTOWN (good enough flick. Not one of Cameron Crowe's best, but good enough), and I was thinking about something.

As I was watching Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst up on the screen, I couldn't help but think "They're good enough, but I think it would've been so much better if Jewel and Sean were cast instead." That's how much FIREFLY/SERENITY has influenced me. I now think that every romactic/date flick would be better if those two were the leads.

And I want to do that. I want to be the guy that puts them in a movie as the lead couple. I want to try and turn them into a modern day Tracey and Hepburn or Bogie and Bacall or Hawke and Delpy. I think they could really work. I mean, we already have FIREFLY/SERENITY as proof that they have impeccable chemistry. I was itching to see those two get together in the flick more than finding out the origin of the Reavers, of the secrets of River.

I'm just wondering if any of you guys would want to see them together again in a romance flick like ELIZABETHTOWN, only better.

XANDER: (baby-talk) Who's a little fear demon?
C'mon, who's a lit-tle fear demon?
GILES: Don't taunt the fear demon.
XANDER: Why? Can he hurt me?
GILES: No, it's just… tacky.

Hey, I'll always make an excuse to watch Sean.

I do wonder though if this would really work. The Firefly/Serenity thing is actually a double edged sword in that if I saw them together it would take awhile for me to see their new characters and not Simon and Kaylee. I'm not saying I wouldn't adjust, just that it would be distracing for a bit.

Another thing to consider, is not only did the actors have a great chemistry together, but their roles were very well written, so that is another factor you would need to consider before putting them together in a new project.

Well, waving the banner of Hepburn and Tracy is a bit premature, I think. Those two were icons of the movie industry.

But...

I'd like to see a movie with romantic chemistry between Sean and Summer.

As much I can't get enough of either actor, I would probably spend the first act of any such film resisting the urge to hot-poker my eyes out.
