When my copy of the Serenity sound track arrived I was very disappointed because it is not even close to as good as the Firefly series soundtrack that Fox released.

Now I've watched Serenity the movie three times and it's clear that whoever put together the Serenity soundtrack CD did a lousy job as there is good music in the movie (especially the end credits). Unfortunately they didn't put it on the CD!

I agree! Even though I really enjoy the soundtrack a lot (and have listened to it several times now), there's a TON of music missing from it that's in the actual film, which is a damned shame. I'd have paid extra for a double album.

This interview with the composer, David Newman, mentions that there's 85 minutes of music...

Yes the soundtrack is around half that length. It don't make no sense...

yea, they really cut the trading station track down. i liked how in the pt2 of the track, it ends on a high note which is supposed to be when serenity swoops in and picks up the mule, but they didnt have that part in the OST.

Why on earth would they not fill the full capacity of a CD? Maybe they're cheap and didn't want to pay as much royalties to the musicians.

Anyway, I didn't buy it. I listened out for the music in the film and it was nowhere near as good as the music in the series. The two best pieces were ones that I had already downloaded form cantstopthesignal.co.uk. Please - hire Greg Edmonson for the sequel!

I completely agree, hire Greg Edmonson for the sequel. And leaving out the end credit music was criminal... {sigh}.

Listening to the Firefly soundtrack brings back memories of watching the episodes. Listening to most of the Serenity soundtrack CD is more like listening to special effects / noise.
