I've seen a few of the music videos that people have made and I was wondering how you made them, and if you would be willing to help me out. I would like to know what programs are used and how difficult it is to do.

Personally, I like VirtualDub and Audacity. My advice for the beginner is to download those (they're freely available on the net) and figure out how they work.

Holy goodness!!! Who else is making vids? I just did my first one and couldn't find much on the "media" chapter of this site. Where are your vids? I'd love to check them out! Here's my first one:

I'm not much of a reference though, as I'm still using old-school tools till I move to my next place. Currently, I'm literally videotaping the TV screen while I play the DVDs. But my friends on the "THE LOST WORLD" boards recommended 'Dazzle' hardware and software, so that's my next purchase. Good luck to you!

The only music vid I have online is the Serenity trailer I did. You can download that at the website listed in my signature (on the front page look for "7-minute Serenity trailer"). If you just want to see the instrumental part of the trailer, which is the music vid, download the instrumental version, which is about 3 minutes long. Looking forward to checking out yours tomorrow, it's a bit late right now for me. :)

You can use a free program called DVD Shrink to get the clips off your DVDs. Great tutorial for it here:

Then I use ULead VideoStudio 8, but there are plenty of other good suites around.

Mucho feedback would be good, too. And be warned, the vid quality could be a *lot* better, but I'm working on getting better equipment (and skills) so that I can improve that.

DVD Shrink doesn't seem to work with either Windows Movie Maker or Showbiz. Could I be doing something wrong? I change the file names, etc. but when I import them, it says they're empty files. Any help would be appreciated!
