Support the Troops

The Whedonverse Multimedia Project urges fans to help us "Support the Troops" by sending them care packages containing Firefly the complete series on DVD along with other requested items as listed on AnySoldier.com including letters from you.

How It Works

The Project will select a number of soldiers from AnySoldier.com to be sent care packages. The number of care packages we send out will depend on the funds available through fan donations. The soldiers selected will be ones who have posted on the Any Soldier site most recently to ensure that their mailing address information is up-to-date and who have requested dvds as among the items they need.

In addition to the Firefly DVD, the care packages will contain other items requested by the soldiers such as gatorade mix, beef jerky, batteries, soap, toothpaste, etc. Most importantly, we would like the packages to contain letters from you.

Letters to Soldiers

Letters are the most requested thing by soldiers. What to write? Easy, write like you are talking to a friend, because that is what that Soldier is going to be real quick. It is also VERY helpful if you leave your full return address as part of your letter, envelopes tend to get trashed quickly. Another good tip is to provide your email address as many soldiers like to reply that way.

Since we want to provide the letters in the care packages, you will need to send them to us to place in them. Put your letter in an envelope for the soldier, put that envelope in another envelope and address it to:

Please send you letters postmarked by October 5th, so that we will have them in time to send out packages the following week.

Donations

Your donations (minus PayPal's fees) will go toward sending care packages to soldiers stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Should there be any excess funds after all the care packages have been sent, that money will carry over to the next public library on our waiting list.
