Hi, I'm new to the site, but I heard someone talking this morning and they said that there was a preview of Serenity in Canberra, Australia today, or this week, not quite sure what the said and didn't get a chance to ask them myself.

Anyone know anything about it?

There is an advance screening Thursday night at the Reading Cinema in Townsville, Queensland. I got the first ticket, lucky me.

Probably your best bet is to look over on the Serenity Oz message boards:
http://serenitymovie.com.au/index.php

Not sure if the offer is still on the table, but this thread looks promising:

eta: Oh, and welcome

I just wish they would have a big damn screening in Newcastle.. They have been having screenings in obscure "no-name" towns(no offense intended to anyone offended).

Still.. at least we Aussies will get to see it officially 39hrs before the yanks!

I thought Perth already had sold out advance stuff?
Am now unable to go to Townsville for the special advance screening. I live 4 hours drive South West of T'vegas and I have work committments starting awfully early Friday morning. Boo Hoo, poor me. Will have to wait until Thursday 29 Septemebr like lots of other folks.
If you do know anyone inTownsville, there are still tickets available, the Reading cinema people are a bit disappointed with the response apparently. They have only been advertising int hepaper, not on their website, not a good move IMHO.
And yes the Serenity Oz site has lots of info. Like Joss being here, on the same continent, I feel so close to him LOL
