i know a bunch of people that are all ready to see the movie, but don't have the tenacity to watch the show repeats/dvds. so i ask of you, do you have to see them in order to understand the movie?

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

It's hard to say, since I have watched the dvds so many times I've lost count, but I feel Joss did a very good job making the story accessible to people who have never seen Firefly. But...if after seeing Serenity your friends still don't want to watch the series, then something is seriously wrong with them. ;)

Don't have the tenacity to watch the show repeats/dvd ???? I'm not sure I even know what that means! Tenacity?? What sort of fan would use that word? It should be more like addiction, or compulsion. Sheesh!

j/k (sorta) But the short answer is , you don't HAVE to have even seen the series, but it does help. I've not read the comics yet, and they bridge the gap from the last episode of Firefly to the start of Serenity.
