Ok this has likely been worked out before I came up with it.

OK here we go.

What about on opening day we run a large ads in papers such as USA Today. The ad to be worked out ahead of time with the studio. Basically thanking Joss and Co. for their hard work. This might draw attention in a positive way to both our groups and to the movie.

A full page ad in USA Today alone would cost over $22,000 and would reach only 350,000 people. While it's a nice idea, I think that really we need to think of more organic ways to promote the movie. Universal will be running print ads, TV spots, etc, etc; we need to ensure widespread word of mouth.

It worked well for Farscape.If we can work this up at the national level $22,000 will be a hurdle but not insurmountable. This is a one time thing and we have time to gather the funds for that purpose.

MUTANTALLY

In our town the local talk station has half an hour of PSAs on Friday afternoon. I intend to start a month ahead of time. If a "Go see Serenity" spiel is not a public service, I don't know what is.

I work from my home. Yesterday my wife sat a client down to watch Train Job. He watched the entire box set straight through. ('Til 1:00am.) He'll be telling others and is full aware of the Sci-Fi schedule.

We had our cousin over to watch the series. She flipped. Just gave her her own copy for her birthday. She was assembling a list of potential Browncoats as she left.

Here's another idea:

Uni needs to attach a two minute trailor to the first reel of the Serenity release in September...

for the second season of Firefly.
