Hey all, I wanna make a firefly music video, but I cant find clips, or anything. Could I just record some off the dvd? But how? i really need help, so please tell me how..thanks.

No program that I know of (work with) will allow you to import VOB files. If you want to work with them however you will have to use AVIsynch to create an AVS file which you can edit in Adobe Priemiere Pro. (This I use) however if you do not have access to Premiere, you can create AVI's by converting the AVS files in VirtuaDubMod. These you can edit in any program.

If you have no idea what I'm saying, I'll walk you through it step by step.

Okay, you need to select how you want to compress the avi.
You most likely converted it using no compression or a non-compression codec.
I'll tell you what, give me a few hours and I will upload a video file tutorial for you.

Okay, sorry but I didn’t have the time to make the video, so maybe this will help you…

Start Menu, AMVapp, DGMPEGDec, GDIndex…

Import your vob files and save project.

When it is done, you will have an avs file in your directory.

Start Menu, AMVapp, VirtualDubMod, VirtualDubMod…

Import your AVS file, you can drag and drop.

Go to video and click Fast recompress…

Go to video and choose compression…

For you, I suggest scrolling down to Microsoft Video 1 ( You can experiment with the various codecs if you like)

Click it.

Adjust the quality settings, and or go to the settings panel on the right. Adjust as needed.

Now then you can save your avi file…

Important, the purpose of the avs file is to have the ability to modify the video before you compress it. When you have finished creating your avi, check to see if it is interlaced. Funky lines during action or slow downs in video playback. If you have this problem, let me know, and I will show you how to clear this up.

Okay, the looks weird part, should be easy to fix... the no sound part, is because you have a separate stream with your audio inside. Most people when making a video do not use the audio from the video track. If you need the audio you can use the besweetgui located in AMVapps, audio apps. here you can convert your audio to wav format.

Now then to fix your video.

Go to your avs file, right click it and open it in notepad. you should see a text in the file that tells you where the actual video index is stored. Below this I want you to copy and past this:

LanczosResize(740,480)
Telecide(order=1)
Decimate(cycle=5, mode=3, threshold=1.0)

save and exit.

This should fix your video. Click on the avs file to view it in Windows media player and preview your new modified video file.

Make certain that if you use still photos in your project that they are 740 by 480.
