BARCLAY

Hey everyone. I've been lurking here a while, and posting occasionally, but I'm coming out of the shadows as I have some thoughts I'd like to share.

1. I received my copy of Finding Serenity last week. This is a great little book that is going to help tide me over until the movie comes out.

2. There's only one problem I've seen so far, and that's a reference to "Wash Warren." Please Joss! Make some canon regarding what Wash's full name is (other than Alan's posts).

3. These DVDs sell themselves, but Finding Serenity has helped. My roommate, upon seeing the cover, thought I had converted to some new religion (he was too lazy to read the subcaption), while my friend who did read the caption, coupled with my rants about how great the show is, sat down to watch the DVDs.

4. Speaking of which, I have five new converts, who are quickly falling for Firefly as well. Constantly, they praise the dialogue and how it mirrors the interactions of real people.

5. If you haven't converted someone yet, do it. Even though I've seen the episodes multiple times each already, watching them through the eyes of someone who has never seen them before really makes the experience that much more enjoyable. Like you're sharing this little secret with them, and you get to see their faces, as, say, the crew stares up at a statue of Jayne for the first time. Great stuff.

6. With Finding Serenity, I ordered the Wonderfalls DVDs, based on no particular reason other than Tim's involvement and some random things I've read on the board. IF YOU HAVEN'T PICKED UP THESE DVDs DO SO! Firefly is amazing, but Wonderfalls is right there with it. It's quirky, funny, has the same capacity to thrill you with dialogue... amazing.

7. I watched the pilot of Wonderfalls Wednesday last week. I wasn't too thrilled, and didn't take much of a liking to Jaye, but went ahead with the rest of the first disk on Thursday. By the middle of the fourth episode, I was hooked. Went through all of Disc 2 on Friday and all of disc 3 on Saturday. I had a friend come in and watch the last half of disc 3 (the end of the series), and she was hooked immeadiately; she's now in custody of the DVDs and flying through them herself. You have to see this show if you haven't.

8. Wonderfalls movie. Please, let's get working on that.

9. Could we start to compile a list of important Firefly/Serenity dates this year? For example, April 29th for the trailer in theatres and September 30th for the release, but maybe dates for action figure release, comic and book publishing, premieres, etc.?

That's all for now.

So that was YOU that just left the shadows. I was wondering who that was standing on my foot. I'm limping now - thanks.

Fantastic musings, by the way. I think you'll find many here in agreement with most or all.

Me - I was with you until you said the first ep of Wonderfalls didn't grab you like the others did. But, to each his own.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I don't want to lose my spot in that dark corner over there ...

An escalator can never break. It can only become stairs. You would never seen an "Escalator temporarily out of order" sign, just "Escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience."
