To the best of my knowledge Cilantro is just a spice.
Perhaps it is used like "Hurray" ????

Thank you for the schoolin'. now that is one item off my "what i need to know list". next is how they decide what the meaning of some of the basic words of English mean. like "a", "to", "is", "an" and so forth. :evil

Joss mentioned Cilantro in the Blog on the official site.

The rest of us kind of picked it up too.

Gah! You silly bastards! Cilantro, fundamentally, is a spicy herb, most notably used around here as a punctuation mark in salsa. For those fuzzy, a "spice" is a seed, bark, or root, usually dried and powdered, placed in foodstuffs for human consumption. An "herb" is leaves or stems, generally whole, either fresh or dried, placed in foodstuffs for human consumption.

Cilantro, in FFF context, is a "signing-off" salutation of Joss Whedon in a posting from Another Board, akin to, those of you hip to Marvel Comics, Excelsior from Stan Lee.

Use it. It distincts you from the Mindless Rabble That Are Un-Hip, and that, mostly, is what life's about, yes?

Yes, it has sort of a "Spoon" feeling to it...

And for those who really want to understand what Joss is talking about...

In a recent trip to Las Vegas, my boss took me out to a seafood restaurant called LANDRY'S -- which had some amazing food. (I highly recommend the Oyster Bar Trash, among other things.) My friend Burl ordered an appetizer which I immediately starting stealing shamelessly: steamed mussels served in a garlic-cilantro broth. Bless my heathen soul if it wasn't one of the most delicious things, well, ever. The broth was perfect for the little pieces of garlic toast to soak up like a sponge. Yum.

So if Joss was to make a movie about it, consider the first ticket sold!

Just Joss Whedon's silly way of saying 'See ya'

he has also used 'latex' as a closing...
