Anyone see the previews for Sahara? This action/ adventure movie has Matthew McConaughey as (Dirk Pitt) where he's being compared by some as " an Indiana Jones for the modern day". Just seen the preview a couple of times, but more than a few shots seem to have a gritty, rustic , fast paced feel that one might expect in ...well, Serenity. \

No, I'm not going as far as to suggest the 2 movies are comparable in terms of story line and such, but Sahara's release date is April 14, mere days before our BDM was originally scheduled to open.

Seems to me that decission to push the premier of Serenity back to Sept. 30 just got better.

MALICIOUS

Sahara is one of my very favorite Clive Cussler books. I've seen the preview, but, having read the book, I can't imagine any similarities between that and Firefly. Serenity the movie might be similar in tone and pace to Sahara, if that's what you meant, but it will be completely different content-wise. If Sahara is remotely like the book, it will be exciting, humorous and a tad unbelieveable--Dirk Pitt is a God among (fictional) men. Matthew McConaughey is not who I imagined playing him. I actually picture Jeff Fahey whenever I read any of the Dirk Pitt adventures, if anyone knows who that is.

ARCPLAYER

Jeff Fahey, I remember the Lawnmower man. He was also one of the bad guys in Siverado. Tyree.

While I never read the book, our BDM will have excitment and humor, right? But yes, tone, pace and a gritty, aesthetic feel are what I'm referring to in regards to Serenity. That, and both have 1 word titles that start in 'S'.

Then again, I might be reaching a bit too much, just trying to fill in some time before the BDM arrives.
