Happy 20th Anniversary to Serenity

Twenty years ago today, Serenity was launched into cinemas across America. I had seen it already via a rough cut in February and the worldwide premiere in Edinburgh but even so, I was still incredibly excited about its proper debut. The weeks leading up to it were incredible here on FFF.net and the wide variety of reactions showed, at least to my mind, the quality of the film in its own right. Even when the trolls came here, spoiling the film in the thread titles, led to something great with other posters launching counter-spoiler threads, culminating in the revelation that River was made of chocolate. Two decades on, people are still discovering the Firefly universe and going through the same experience we had when watching the film - there are some wonderful reaction videos on YouTube, check out FunnyLilGal's naked heartbreak at losing her two favourite characters or Jacqui the Film Student breaking it down at a more technical level.

Wonderful time in my life, wonderful film to have seen and wonderful community to have been part of. We never got our dozen sequels and spin-offs but sometimes it's enough to have had a great moment in the sun.

Yep.

We did get Serenity comic books,

and 9 (so far) Firefly novels,

an Encyclopedia

and a cookbook.

Tons of merch, artwork etc etc.
