okay, does anyone want to speculate as to the nature of the weirdo alliance guns that are seen in episodes like "trash" and "ariel"? they are obviously not projectile weapons like normal pistols or handguns. are they stun weapons? are they lethal? what do they actually fire? high powered energy? wild speculation is welcome and fun!

They are sonic weapons that stun and disorient their victim much like a modern Flashbang Grenade and possibly disrupt their nervous system like a tazor.

I agree with GunRunner. They're most likely sonic. A concentrated force of sound that can actually push the person off their feet. And like GR said, that much sonic force is likely to mess with the nervous system a little too, either knocking the person out or at the very least making them all manner of discombobulated.

I was thinking some more about these weapons and I think they function in the ‘Ultra Sonic’ spectrum just above the level of human hearing but low enough to affect the inner ear as to not effect the operator, if it was in the ‘Sonic’ spectrum it might effect all that hear the weapon fire to some extent- probably just leave a ringing in their ears.

That Phshoot sound we hear is either the sound of the sonic waves hitting the [crystal, metal?] around the transducer (amplifier?) or its effect on the surrounding air. This effect is a lot like Active Sonar, it works above the level of human hearing (most movies are wrong) but when it strikes the metal hull of a sub it sounds like pebbles falling on the hull or chains being dragged across it.

In a pinch the sonic wave from these weapons could probably be used to boil water. (That’s no go-se!)
