ITSALLSHINY

I was fooling around with writing some haiku and I wrote this one for Jewel. Hope she likes it:

Pretty girl in grease
Flouncing around engine room -
Serenity's heart.

Anyone who is writing to Jewel, please give this to her as a gift from a fan. Thanks.

Flouncing. Well there's one I don't hear too often, but it fits. I'm surprised she's not gotten more post like this. She truly is a darlin. When it comes to writing poetry, I'm probably at my most Jayne like. She's in congress? . Yeah, it's pretty bad.

Yeah, it does fit.

But I didn't come up with it, Joss and co did.

Remember Shindig, where Kaylee is admiring the dress in the window? And Captain Mal says, "What would you do with that dress? Flounce around the engine room? It'd be like a sheep on two legs!"

The first line, of course, is from Jaynestown, where drunk Simon tells Kaylee, "You're pretty...pretty. Even covered in grease...no *especially* covered in grease."

I just put their scenes/lines in Haiku form.

Haa haa haa. What a wicked thing to say. I remember that...and of course, Jayne follows it all up asking if she's mad or something. Classic.

Yup, but let's not forget all those significant looks!
Kaylee's disappointed and mad
Mal's 'OMG, I can't believe I just screwed up so bad!'
Zoe's, "Yes, Captain, you DID just screw up that bad!"
andJayne's cluelessness!

Wonderful acting. All that meaning conveyed through few and no words. That's our Joss and cast!

Was there ever so easily a misspelled word as 'Serentity'? er... 'Serentiy'? um... I mean 'Serenity'?!

I don't know about y'all, but my fingers just spasm every time I try to type it. Even when I'm spell-checking, I sometimes miss the misspell, and don't catch it until after it gets posted. Still, if someone gives it to the delightful Jewel as suggested, hopefully they'll fix it for ItsAllShiny. (IAS: No offense, it happens to us all)

JS is so sweet and -- I want to say 'innocent', but only as the highest compliment -- that I worry success in the entertainment industry may destroy her pristine nature. Of course I want her to be successful; but I pray she remains the playful, humble and straightforward person she is today.

How refreshing in today's diseased and twisted cult of celebrity...

Respectfully,

zoid

Thanks, Zoid, for that oh-so-polite and politic point out. "Serentity" is all fixed!

ItsAllShiny:

No problem. I know you'd want your Ode to Jewel (okay, it's haiku, I know) to be perfect for her.

I always misspell Serenity that second way, 'Serentiy'. And for some reason, I can't seem to catch most of my spelling and formatting errors on the text box we use to compose posts. Maybe it's because of the serif-style text or the short carriage returns; I dunno. But I can only seem to catch errors from the display screen after posting, where the stylesheet renders it sans-serif, white on black, etc. Then I have to hurry up and 'Edit', before anybody catches me being dyslexic...

Editorially,

zoid
