With all the new Firefly vids... How about a contest?

Would anyone be interested in seeing about getting a (semi)monthly Firefly Music Video contest going?

We could have categories (comedy/action/drama/etc), a specific song you have to use or just an example of your work.

We could have judging by poll or just make Haken pick his favorite.

The winner would get a shiny little prize and bragging rights. The rest of us would get shiny new videos.

Any thoughts?

Uh, it's probably my space dementia again, but I don't like the idea of a contest. I love the idea of more vids (and anything else, for that matter!

), but I don't see a reason to make it a competition. Personally, I think that people have put a lot of effort into these works, and they are all beautiful in their own way. Comparing them - in my opinion - may be perceived as belittling those who don't "win". Know what I mean?

No offense, of course.

It's not a bad idea, just something I personally don't think will be productive and have positive results.

Let me explain: My idea of a contest is more motivational than competitive. Usually you have to dangle a carrot to get things up and running and once they are, they ususally run on their own.

I understand the negative side of judging but I don't see how else to ensure participation.

Personally, I would like the entrys to be ~30 seconds, silly songs chosen by a 3rd party. One step up from the "add a caption to the picture" games which everyone loves.

For example: Make a vid with the soundtrack from the Bud...Weis...Er frogs commercial.
