For years YouTube (Google/Alphabet), Facebook, Twitter etc have been censoring content. Accounts have been deplatformed, demonetized, and shadow-banned as independent producers struggle with their subscribers being "helpfully" unsubscribed, their "likes" disappearing, their sites being "disappeared" from search engines, and dropped down into anonymity in "recommended content" even as they have gained wide viewership and/or are directly related to the content being viewed.

.html

Not too surprisingly, this censorship was aimed primarily at conservative sites and producers (too many to name, but I was shocked when Paul Joseph Watson was deplatformed, I thought his opinion pieces were critical and sarcastic but never non-factual) but also extended to leftish websites like The Duran ... anybody, really, who disagreed with the lamestream narrative.

Meanwhile, the M$M pushed fake news for DECADES, carrying water for the spook agencies and their favorite narratives, but it turned into a blizzard of shit when Trump was elected. How many cumulative decades of screen-time and miles of columns did they spend pushing the RUSSIA!RUSSIA!COLLUSION!DOSSIER! lie, along with a whole long list of ancillary hoaxes like "Flynn is a traitor" and "Comey was unjustly fired" and "Kavanaugh was a rapist" and "Covington students assault elderly Native American" and "Assad gassed his own people, again" and "Juan Guaido, Venezuela's new President" and a list too ginormous to even post.

This all started with the "Russia interfered with the 2016 election" by claiming that "Russia hacked the DNC servers and gave it to Julian Assange" ("secret" testimony recently released under FOIA showed that even Crowdstrike, the entity that supposedly analyzed the DNC servers revealed there was no such evidence that any Russian entity EVER accessed the servers ... not Fancy Bear ... or Fluffy Bear, Momma Bear, or Poppa Bear either.

The other allegation was that Russia, under direct orders from Putin, planted content in social media to "help Trump", and Mueller indicted one actual Russian company and whole bunch of Russian names who seem to have been picked out of an old org chart. But when this actual Russian company showed up in court and demanded EVIDENCE, the DOJ's cupboard was bare, and the indictment was dropped.

All of this was just head-fucking the American public, but it served a purpose besides smearing Trump ... it gave the spook agencies and sympathetic interent moguls license to start catagorizing content as "trusted" (that is, it went along with the series of lies published in the M$M) or "untrusted" (that is, it questioned or disagreed with the M$M narrative)

Anyone who dared disagree with the crap that the M$M was relentlessly spewing was smeared as a "Russian troll", and GSTRING ... most likely a paid troll and "influencer" himself ... led the charge on this board.

Yanno, let the Flat Earther's have their site, I don't care. If someone wants to convince me that Allah is the next best thing to sliced bread, that's OK too. Unless someone breaks CRIMINAL LAW IMHO they can tweet, video, or post any damn thing that they want.

But once social media starts controlling content beyond complying with criminal law, they have moved themselves from being "platforms" to being "publishers" and should be treated as such. That means that THEY become responsible for content, and can be sued for, among other things, defamation.

Glad to see you mentioned the platform vs publisher point. I was going to mention it if you didn't.

In a perfect world, the internet will be free to go on as it had for decades up until the last few years.

This isn't a perfect world though. I hope that Trump isn't fighting censorship with censorship.

The social media sites should have a liability shield. I feel that's very important. But they don't get to have their cake and eat it too. As platforms, they should NEVER be allowed to editorialize anything. When they do, they are publishers and should not be protected from any liability.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

"We Rig The Game": Facebook Whistleblower Reveals Bias Against Conservatives In Latest Veritas Exposé
Thu, 06/25/2020 - 11:25

A Facebook content moderator has come forward to reveal rampant bias against conservatives at the social media giant.

Ryan Hartwig, an Arizona-based Facebook content moderator for third-party contractor Cognizant, says he witnessed egregious double-standards both targeting conservatives or favoring liberals.

"I was seeing them interfering on a global level in elections. I saw a blatant exception that just targeted conservatives or favored liberals—and you know, we're deleting on average 300 posts or actioning 300 posts a day," said Hartwig, adding "If you magnify that by however many content moderators there are on a global scale, that's a lot of stuff that's getting taken down."

Hartwig wore a hidden camera to document reviewing of content and office interactions. In an interview with Project Veritas CEO James O’Keefe, Hartwig said although he signed a confidentiality agreement, he could no longer ignore the suppression of Facebook content supporting President Donald Trump, Republican causes or the conservative agenda with a massive exception to the company’s public position on protecting political speech across the platform. -Project Veritas

"That was the tipping point. Knowing about what I knew about how they were giving exceptions for the policy, I knew that it was likely that it was happening elsewhere on a global scale," said Hartwig. "Just seeing such blatant bias from Facebook really bothered me."

ANOTHER Facebook Whistleblower: Interference ‘On a Global Level in Elections’

Another report demonstrating rampant censorship of conservative content by Facebook content moderators and an interview with the latest insider who experienced it firsthand was released today, by the non-profit media company, Project Veritas.

“I was seeing them interfering on a global level in elections. I saw a blatant exception that just targeted conservatives or favored liberals—and you know, we're deleting on average 300 posts or actioning 300 posts a day,” said Arizona-based Facebook content moderator Ryan Hartwig. “If you magnify that by however many content moderators there are on a global scale, that's a lot of stuff that's getting taken down,” he said.

Hartwig is the second Facebook Whistleblower Project Veritas debuted this week to report on the behavior. Earlier this week, recordings captured Facebook content moderators bragging about deleting posts and comments supporting President Donald Trump and conservative causes.

Hartwig was employed by Cognizant the same third-party company reported earlier this week to have contracted with Facebook to conduct content moderation. Cognizant content moderators are called “process executives” and they use Facebook’s review queue to adjudicate whether a post or comment should be allowed, taken down or escalated to a supervisor.

“That was the tipping point. knowing about what I knew about how they were giving exceptions for the policy, I knew that it was likely that it was happening elsewhere on a global scale,” he said. “Just seeing such blatant bias from Facebook really bothered me.”

O’Keefe said Hartwig exemplifies the heroic virtues of Project Veritas’ “Be Brave. Do Something.” campaign.

Content Moderators Express Hostility to Trump, His Supporters

One of the moderators Hartwig recorded was Israel Amparan, who he said typifies the worldview of most of the content moderators he encountered.

“Trump supporters are f*cking crazy *ss *ssholes, that every other f*cking word out of their mouth is you know ‘Come take it,’ ‘Seal the border,’” said Amparan. “Come take it” refers to the “Come and Take It” slogan Texan colonists put on their flag after the Mexican government demanded they turn in their cannon.
