and by "buff" I mean Historian?

I got what I believe to be a pretty damn awesome trivia piece here for the RWED....

A new girl at work lucked into a guitar in an inheritance. I haven't asked her if she plays at all, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't. I can't find crap about it online. Actually, the only thing I've found is pictures of a Guitar that is EXACTLY the same as hers going on eBay for $199.00 OBO.... I will make sure to tell her tonight to take that down if it's her listing before she finds out if it's a valuable relic or not.

Somebody in her family handed it down to her and told her it was from the sixties.

I can tell from the pictures that it wasn't a SERIOUS guitar at all. It was more like a pretty awesome toy that kids might have gotten back then. While a premium guitar made by a premium company with premium wood will make a guitar that will sound better over the first 25 years of it's life as it ages, the VERY best I could say about this guitar is that maybe one day it sounded as good as the Esteban guitar sounded the first 6 months you had it.

When she was asking me what it might be worth, I didn't counter her when she said all of the strings were still on it. Having played quite a bit of guitar, I know that changing strings is something I should have done more regularly while I played, but seeing as how I already figure that this is probably the closest she's ever gotten to a guitar in her life why confuse her... right?

What I didn't realize is that with a piece that has potential to be worth some historical value and money to the right buyer, aftermarket mods would only diminsh the value. Chances are, not all the strings are original, but if there were a collector who wanted this guitar I'm sure he or she has their ways to figure out if all 6 strings are genuine.

Anybody here remember anyone having this when you were growing up?

Seriously, it has actual screws putting the pick guard in place :)

Probably the most awesome case I've ever seen, if nothing else.

Anybody ever see this before?

I told her not to sell it. I told her that she might regret it years from now. If she needs a few bucks, I'll buy it from her now.

Yeah, it's an old toy......

I owned a lot of transformers and thundercats and he-men figures. I owned a lot of comics, even NUMBER 1's, but they made gazzilions of anything I was born with. I could buy a million rolls of toilet paper with what my parents spent on BS collectibles when I was a kid.

This here, is a Kid's starter guitar from the 60's.

As much as I respect the internet and to at least get an opinion about something if not provable truth... this girl came up with something that gets no hits anywhere.

I can't help but think that this is worth at least a few more bucks than a few month's rent...

Do Right, Be Right. :)
