It wasn't just zeal. It was a commitment to ethics and professionalism they learned from the early giants of their industry who reported on stories from World War 2, Korea, and Vietnam, not to mention the dramatic political and social changes during all those long years.

I think that if some of those people were alive today they'd be ashamed of what their industry has become. Hell, if Franklin was alive today he'd seriously rethink Freedom of the Press.

Freedom of the Press is more then a press free of govt restraint...its a press free of political bias. That hasn't been the case since the mid-nineties.
