Last update I could no longer reach google cached from the ipad, but things have been sucking for a while. Now this:

So, with google's last update to their site, I can no longer get to google news from their home page, and if I search on something, there's a link, but only to the google news search for that topic. Top stories is no longer a link, now it's just a list.

Here are google's top three stories for Aug 28th, 2011:

Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux move in together - Msnbc
MTV Video Music Awards: Our Picks - Huffington Post
Usain Bolt disqualified in 100; Walter Dix takes silver at IAAF - USA Today

So, A Hurricane made landfall at Coney Island, and that wasn't news? Oh, yeah, it was item #4. Nothing happened in Libya today. The first ever evacuation of NYC was less important that Jennifer Aniston moving in with a new boyfriend, or who Arianna Huffington thinks should win the MTV awards, as if either one of these mattered. Also, a sports competition. The rest of the news contained one more piece of sports news and the rest was entertainment.

I despair of the entire culture. Digging further through these sources I find each of them have something more important to talk about than, well, anything that's actually important:

How to recognize your future ex-husband - oh, please, spare us on lecturing humans on who to hook up with. And while we're at it, I get this context sensitive ad: "Would you like a credit score 814?" No, I don't care. I'm never going to borrow any money.

Some Porsche Purists Like It Hot, and They’re Sweating to Prove It - no, that's not an ad, it's the story, at the NYT.

That's what a ship is, you know - it's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs.
