Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.

A resident in the city who doesn't want to be identified, writes a report for the BBC:

An interesting insight I thought. I liked the remark of the old lady standing in the men's line

It's not personal. It's just war.

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

This is the peril of dealing w/ the middle east. Does the US sit, and do nothing, while Qaddafi slaughters rebels an innocent civilians alike ? Qaddafi, who is said to have been behind the airline bombing over Lockerbee, and orchestrated the release of a convicted participant in the plot, so Western countries could ultimately gain more favorable standing in Libya's oil prospects ?

Or does the West help out the rebels, who could end up supporting a more hard line Islamic government. One which may very well end up installing some form of Sharia law ?

Kinda sucks, either way.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

I have a feeling that if the opposition were to win, whatever took Ghadafi's place won't be hard-line Islamic. The ability to see and understand the rest of the world may well be part of what's behind all this stuff happening in the Middle East, and I think they may well be paranoid about putting a religious figure in power. There's no knowing, of course, until/unless it happens, of course.

In my opinion, I don't care who ends up leading the countries in question, as long as they treat their people well and allow them to achieve a decent standard of living. I think that is the SINGLE bigget thing behind all of this, their ability to see how the rest of the world lives and compare it to how they do. Whether any potential leader of ANY of these countries agrees with us or not, I don't care. If they're truly chosen by the people and they make a decent leader FOR THEIR COUNTRY, I don't give a damn about their feelings regarding us or our law or anything else. Neither we nor anyone else can know that how we did it is better than any other way, so I'm not invested in our style of "democracy".

"Toned down" is defined as dropping 2,000-pounds bombs instead of Terminator cruise missiles (Nazi V1 Buzz Bombs were used by USA DURING WW2)...

Last time I personally bombed Libya and killed President Qadaffi's little daughter, BBC had Kate Adie in Tripoli ("coincidence"), broadcasting video of a woman's brains splattered al lover the sidewalk.

I notice They aren't making that same mistake this time. Lot's a brains splattered ("good"), but no TV crews of the massacre ("bad"). The Juice sure know how to run a media-bankster empire, especially while Israel arms Qadaffi with mercs to "justify" invasion.

Best to take all unsourced commentary with a very large grain of salt.

Remember the "kuwaiti incubator story", and the lucky break which exposed it as a Hilton-and-Knowles PR push which was by no means true ?

Ergo, I would suspect a whole lot of these horror stories to show up, right out of the military psyops dept or from political groups that benefit - right alongside tales that are in fact true, which is what upsets me about it the worst, because the bullshit stories wind up discrediting and demeaning those that are factual.

No doubt at all about the situation on the ground being less than pleasant though, I have a local contact but there's a big language barrier problem and his/her? english is friggin terrible.
