The chip-in-a-pill is brought to you by the vaccine drug maker, Novartis that sees the new implant technology as promising in that it can be applied to many other pills.

Can we really trust these folks to never secretly put chips in our pills without our consent?

Can we trust that no one will ever secretly put chips in our pills without our consent?

Ehhh....

Doing it backwards. Walking up the downslide.

For chips to stick around, they need to be implanted under the skin. Objects that get ingested don't really stay in the body. There is a thermometer, for instance, which can be swallowed like a pill to monitor core body temperature. It's then, unsurprisingly, passed. You can see it on Mythbusters, if you were to ever watch such a sensible show.

Facts are stubborn things.

I doubt that. Being made of glass, it's not exactly going to pass through the system without a hitch

This year, doctors asked my stepdad to swallow a video camera. It got stuck. He died during the surgery to remove it.

Bayer, those nice folks who made Zyklon-B for the Nazi gas chambers. Allegedly.

Made of glass? What on Earth are you talking about?
I was talking about this:

Also, in case you missed it the first time, YOU CAN SEE IT ON MYTHBUSTERS IF YOU WERE TO EVER WATCH SUCH A SENSIBLE SHOW. When monitoring core body temperature to see if brandy can help stave off hypothermia, they swallow these very devices.

Microchips, commonly made of smooth metal, and being micro, are not going to stay in the system through ingestion. If it were that easy, I would definitely have gone with that less painful option when I had my cat chipped. But it doesn't work that way. They used a big honkin' needle instead.

Facts are stubborn things.

The real question isn't that the govt may decide to spy on your colon...its what are you trying to hide?

Silicon is actually glass, not metal. Mythbusters is bunk. I've seen it a few times. I think they're agenda driven and unscientific.

I would agree that PN is always pushing the panic button, here too, but it would be possible to use the tech to lodge something in your system.

It's not necessary of course, they've already tagged your cell phone.
